Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about working together?

Here are some of the most common questions I get from individuals who are seeking therapy.

If you don’t see your question listed or are ready to schedule a consultation with me, complete this request form and I will be reaching out to you.

  • I am based in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, I am able to provide remote therapy for residents in California in addition to Nevada.

  • A HIPAA compliant video platform (Google Meet or Zoom) will be used to connect with you for session from a location where you are comfortable and able to maintain confidentiality.

Many of my clients thoroughly benefit from online therapy, as it reduces travel time and allows one to hold sessions from the comfort of their home or office amidst their busy schedule.

  • I provide online therapy only at this time.

  • The first session will be focused on taking a deep dive into the root and onset of your problems that have brought you to therapy. I aim to understand what your hopes and expectations are for therapy so that I can help create a roadmap for the process of your therapy journey.

  • How long you will be in therapy depends on several factors, such as the severity of the problem you are trying to resolve as well as your willingness to work on them.

Evidently, the outcome of therapy is largely dependent upon your willingness and readiness for change.

Goals for therapy are set forth by you. My role is to guide and assist with my expertise.

Generally, many of my clients have seen progress within 6-12 sessions.

  • Clients have described my therapeutic style as being warm and non-judgmental, while being direct and goal-oriented.

I aim for you to feel valued, empowered, and competent to make changes by providing you with a safe space.

Previously, clients have shared that the psychoeducation on their presenting issues and practical tools were helpful in the immediate management of their anxiety and/or depressed mood.

  • My ability to provide you with any services are based on where you are physically located at the time of your appointment.

I am ONLY able to provide therapy for those who are residing in California and Nevada.

On a case-by-case basis, I may be able to offer sessions to an active client temporarily located outside of Nevada or California. However, there are complexities involved, and further steps must be taken in order to comply with respective state board laws & regulations of the state or country you will be.

  • I do not advertise couples therapy services or on the internet due to limited availability and high demand.

  • I accept some Aetna and Optum plans, as well as limited United Healthcare plans for individual therapy sessions. Please inquire further during consultation, as this information may change.

I do not accept insurance for the following:

    1. Couple’s Therapy or Marital Counseling, as I operate independently of insurance constraints.

    2. Extended therapy sessions exceeding 60 minutes, such as 80-minute EMDR extended sessions.

  • I accept major credit cards, including VISA and MASTERCARD. Payments through Zelle are also accepted.

  • I may be able to accept HSA/FSA cards for individual therapy sessions if you are receiving therapy for a diagnosable mental health condition.

However, for marital counseling or couples therapy, HSA/FSA cards cannot be accepted. Ethical guidelines mandate the submission of a mental health diagnosis to demonstrate medical necessity for treatment.

According to IRS guidelines, therapy costs may be covered by an HSA or FSA "if the therapy is treatment for a disease. For example, an amount paid for therapy to treat a diagnosed mental illness is a medical expense, but an amount paid for marital counseling is not."

  • There are limited number of “sliding scale” or reduced cost appointments available on a first-come, first-served basis for those who are experiencing financial hardship. Fees are determined by household gross income.

*The sliding-scale fee is only applicable to self-pay, cash-pay or non-insurance clients. The rate is not applicable if you are utilizing insurance.

  • Sessions typically occur weekly or bi-weekly. The recommended frequency will be assessed and determined following your initial assessment session, considering factors such as the presenting issue, goals, and your preferred pace of progress.

In some instances, budget and scheduling constraints may require us to adjust the session frequency.

If this situation arises, we will work together to find arrangements that minimize disruption to your therapeutic goals and objectives.

For clients undergoing EMDR therapy, it is strongly recommended to attend weekly sessions to maximize the benefits. Extended 80 minute sessions may also be more suitable, but this can be discussed further once your goals and expectations are established.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
